FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE
The healthcare sector is dominated by India’s biggest hospital groups: Apollo, Fortis, Narayana, Manipal, AMRI and Max Healthcare. Apollo Hospitals is largest in terms of revenue and owning, managing, or operating 33 hospitals with more then 5,000 beds across India. Next is Fortis Healthcare, which runs around 26 hospitals nationally. Narayana, the largest in terms of beds and Manipal, with more then 4,500 beds. Max Healthcare is the smallest of the group.
One of the system’s key areas of growth in recent years has been in web-based services based on telephone, video, and email communication.The COVID-19 pandemic, high speed internet connectivity, widespread internet and cell phone usage has been a catalyst for the advancement of web-based services in India. The WhatsApp, users can send almost any amount of data with absolute security and with great speed. Even with the limitations imposed by screen size, it’s been very popular.
The government is also encouraging more and more online and phone interaction recognizing the nation’s physician shortage and the increased demand for doctors’ services. The web-based healthcare delivery system and services in urban as well as rural areas is picking up rapidly with more widespread internet and cell phone usage, life style changes towards everything from comfort of home and anytime, anywhere concepts. The increasing penetration of public and private health insurance is also contributing to higher healthcare spending. So the future of the healthcare in India has huge potential.
